What Sets Schola Apart?

What a great blessing it is that there are so many resources available for families who want to take charge of their children’s education. A brief online search will produce a list of curriculum materials without number, a myriad of educational philosophies and models, online classes, co-ops, home school groups, extra curricular activities, and more.

There are many good options for homeschooling families looking for supplemental classes right here in Fort Bend County. So what sets Schola apart? Here are a few of our distinctives…

Grounded in God’s Word - The foundation of Schola’s curriculum and instruction is the Word of God. This is not “window dressing” for us, simply adding the word Christian here and there in our classroom materials or parent communications. Whether the subject matter is language, history, math, or science, Schola students are reminded that the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty in all subjects should be grounded in God’s Word, made manifest in Christ Jesus our Lord and Creator.

Experienced - Schola has been a meeting place for students and teachers for 20 years. Many Schola teachers have homeschooled their own children or were homeschooled themselves, so are uniquely equipped to come alongside homeschooling families. Our teachers are also experienced classroom educators, offering structure, accountability, and subject expertise to Schola families.

Collaborative - Schola’s collaborative model means your children are getting the benefit of experienced teachers who love teaching and love their subjects, and who desire to come alongside parents, not wrest educational control from them.

The Great Conversation - The Great Conversation is Schola’s signature humanities program for students in grades 4 - 12. TGC classes are rooted in the classical tradition and shaped by a Biblical worldview. High school students completing four years of The Great Conversation earn 17 credits toward the 22 - 26 credits customary for graduating students in Texas.

Focused - While Schola offers a wide variety of classes (art and chemistry, Latin and Spanish, public speaking and digital media, and more!), we don’t try to be all things to all people. We don’t have sports teams, drama, chess club, or band. Those activities can be wonderful, and we hope Schola parents will take advantage of the many extracurricular offerings in our area! But one way Schola is able to offer a rich, yet affordable educational experience is by staying focused on our academic offerings.
