College Test Prep
College Test Prep
Curriculum
This College Test Prep Course provides accountability and assessment practices of a high school course of study. Each semester has a different focus, allowing students who have taken the fall semester to continue or to opt out of the spring semester.
During the first semester, the students will learn to recognize and respond to the different problem types on the SAT and ACT. Students will use Khan Academy for weekly required practice of material taught during class time and track their progress by completing a digital pretest, mid-course test, and post-test from the College Board BlueBook app (which requires students to establish a personal College Board account).
During the second semester, instead of meeting as a group on Wednesday mornings, students will work one-on-one with the teacher for 30 minutes or in groups of 2-3 for an hour each Wednesday to address content-specific areas of concentration. Where the first semester provides students with a flood of new information, the focus of the second semester is the consistent and refined practice, growth, and implementation of best strategies to strengthen individual test performance. To accomplish this, the student, parent and teacher will establish an individualized plan based on each student's needs.
