Language Arts 4
Curriculum
Language Arts 4 will provide grammar, literature, and writing lessons. Each week students will be read to and will read on their own exciting, colorful, and adventurous literature. Reading Detective will help your children think critically about anything they ever read.
Christian Light Language Arts is a solid, comprehensive program that teaches grammar and mechanics. Students will learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, compose essays, and more! Parents will be responsible for editing writing projects, checking grammar homework done at home, and monitoring novel reading.
This course also uses the books Spell to Write and Read and WISE Guide for Spelling by Wanda Sanseri. This multi-sensory approach teaches penmanship, the sounds of speech (phonograms), and spelling rules in a manner that stimulates logical thinking and equips students for spelling mastery and reading fluency.
Cursive penmanship, the most efficient form of handwriting, is taught and practiced with the goal of attaining fluent and legible writing at the speed a student needs to achieve for taking notes in class or composing their thoughts in coherent writing.
