Latin for Children 1 Bonus Period
Latin for Children 1 Bonus Period
Curriculum
In Latin, "bonus" means good...and we hope this additional offering to the fourth grade schedule will be good for you and your child!
This will be more than a study hall, though students will have the opportunity to get some homework done and request additional Latin help. Students will also explore Greek and Latin roots using the "WordUp" video series by Compass Classroom. Every two weeks we will watch a 15 minute lesson featuring one Latin and one Greek word, plus English words that come from those roots (for example, the word water is "aqua" in Latin and "hydra" in Greek, from which we get: aquarium, aqueduct, hydration, hydrant, etc.). On other weeks we will explore topics including geography, art, music, games, number/letter puzzles, building toys, and more.
These bonus periods would be useful for families with other Schola students who would like an extended day for their fourth grader.
